About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. This role will focus on process optimisation, project execution, product quality, automation, and continuous improvement across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Engineering department, including Senior Engineers, Project Managers, and R&D teams
  • Drive engineering strategy aligned to operational and business objectives
  • Oversee process engineering, validation, optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage engineering projects including new product launches, equipment installations, automation, and line upgrades
  • Improve production efficiencies, reduce waste, and optimise cycle times using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies
  • Provide technical leadership on tooling, robotics, automation, process control systems, and manufacturing technologies
  • Ensure compliance with automotive standards including IATF 16949, ISO 14001, VDA6.3, and customer/OEM requirements
  • Support RFQ processes, process line design, labour planning, and technical feasibility studies
  • Manage departmental budgets, CAPEX, engineering resources, and reporting
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional internal teams to resolve technical and process issues

Requirements

  • BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering qualification
  • Minimum 5+ years Engineering Management experience in an Automotive Manufacturing environment
  • Strong project management experience within manufacturing/engineering
  • Experience in metal manufacturing, stamping, and automotive production (non-negotiable)
  • Strong process improvement, time study, and manufacturing optimisation experience
