Johannesburg: Inbound Team Leader

Job Description

Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 / Matric essential; a relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehousing or Operations Management will be advantageous. Proven experience in a Distribution Centre / warehouse inbound environment, preferably within retail, fashion, FMCG or e-commerce operations. Previous team leader or supervisory experience, with the ability to lead, organise and motivate an inbound team effectively. Sound knowledge of inbound warehouse processes, including receiving, offloading, checking, sorting, quality control, put-away and stock movement. Good understanding of garment flow, stock accuracy and product handling within a fast-paced DC environment. Experience using warehouse management systems to support daily operations, workflow tracking, stock visibility and reporting. Ability to monitor productivity, service levels, compliance, cost performance and operational targets. Strong planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage workflow according to delivery schedules and operational priorities. Hands-on approach to daily problem-solving, with the ability to resolve team-specific operational challenges quickly and practically. Ability to identify risks, delays, stock discrepancies or process issues and escalate these timeously to management. Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, transport partners and management. Good understanding of warehouse logistics standards, health and safety requirements and sustainability targets. High attention to detail, with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, compliance and loss reduction. Ability to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven, high-volume inbound environment. People-focused leadership style, with the ability to coach, guide, empower and develop team members. Positive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to respond effectively to operational change and continuous improvement initiatives. Reliable, accountable and self-aware, with a clear understanding of how leadership impacts team performance and overall DC operations. Willingness to work shifts, weekends or overtime when operationally required. Key Responsibilities: Lead, manage, and organize an inbound department team, and monitor productivity. Support inbound Department Manager in maximizing operational excellence, quality, and efficiency by proactive analysis of logistics processes and management of workflows. Responsible for inbound receiving, checking, stock processing, storage location replenishment, put-away processes, potential future inbound VAS, and ensuring stock is available to fulfil operational expectations. Secure efficiency and smooth operations in a cost-efficient way and according to the clients operational & sustainability standards. Guarantee optimal product availability and accurate inbound processing. Understand the features of the systems used in the warehouse, being able to run the operation on a daily basis. Responsible to conduct inventory counts. Identify risks and issues in daily DC inbound department team and report to inbound Department Manager to support resolving identified risks, issues, and follow-up. How to apply:
