Johannesburg: Outbound Team Leader

Job Description

Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 / Matric essential; a relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehousing or Operations Management will be advantageous. Proven experience in a Distribution Centre / warehouse outbound environment, preferably within retail, fashion, FMCG or e-commerce operations. Previous team leader or supervisory experience, with the ability to lead, motivate and manage an outbound team effectively. Sound knowledge of outbound processes, including store replenishment, online picking, packing, dispatch, shipping and product flow. Good understanding of warehouse management systems and the ability to use operational systems to support daily workflow and reporting. Experience in managing productivity, service levels, compliance, cost performance and operational targets. Ability to conduct and support inventory counts, stock accuracy checks and related outbound controls. Strong problem-solving ability with a hands-on, practical approach to daily operational challenges. Excellent planning, coordination and communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and support management priorities. Ability to identify operational risks, escalate issues timeously and assist in implementing corrective action. Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to quality, accuracy, efficiency and loss reduction. Knowledge of operational logistics standards, health and safety requirements and sustainability targets. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven DC environment. A collaborative and people-focused leadership style, with the ability to develop, guide and empower team members. Positive, adaptable and solutions-driven mindset, with the ability to respond effectively to change. Reliable, accountable and self-aware, with a strong understanding of how individual leadership impacts overall team performance. Key Responsibilities: Lead, manage, and organize an outbound department team, and monitor productivity. Support outbound Department Manager in maximizing operational excellence, quality, and efficiency by proactive analysis of logistics processes and management of workflows. Responsible for retail store allocation & replenishment and online picking, pick location storage and replenishment, packing, potential future outbound VAS, and shipping to fulfil customer expectations. Secure efficiency and smooth operations in a cost-efficient way and according to the clients operational & sustainability standards. Guarantee optimal product availability and picking. Understand the features of the systems used in the warehouse, being able to run the operation on a daily basis. Responsible to conduct inventory counts. Identify risks and issues in daily DC outbound department team and report to outbound Department Manager to support, resolving identified risks, issues, and follow-up. How to apply:
