A luxury safari camp in the Kalahari is looking for a HEAD GUIDE to lead their guiding team. This exceptional private game reserve is dedicated to conservation, habitat restoration, and delivering world-class safari experiences. The Head Guide will lead and manage all guiding operations, ensuring guests enjoy unforgettable game drives, walking safaris, and interpretive experiences while upholding the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and hospitality. Candidate Responsibilities: Lead game drives, bush walks, and interpretive experiences, sharing expert knowledge of wildlife, ecosystems, and conservation. Manage and mentor the guiding team, developing skills, conducting assessments, and fostering professional growth. Coordinate with camp management to align activities with guest itineraries and operational requirements. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, conservation policies, and ethical guiding practices. Maintain guiding equipment, vehicles, and communication devices, and keep accurate wildlife and operational records. Assist with conservation projects, research initiatives, and community engagement as needed. Core Criteria: FGASA Level 2 or equivalent recognized qualification; VPDA and Trails experience advantageous. Valid PDP, First Aid Level 1 or higher, and Rifle Competency Certificate. Minimum 5 years guiding experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or Head Guide role. Extensive knowledge of African wildlife, flora, and conservation practices. Experience in a luxury safari or 5-star hospitality environment. Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages advantageous. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a team. Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities. Professional appearance, demeanor, and high personal standards. Calm; decisive, and adaptable in high-pressure situations. Passion for hospitality, conservation, and delivering outstanding guest experiences. This is a live-in position.
