IT SUPPORT & FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

JOB SUMMARY AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Facilities & IT Support role is primarily responsible for providing day-to-day IT support and coordinating IT-related assistance across the organisation, including remote support for branches outside of Johannesburg. The role also includes facilities coordination responsibilities relating to the upkeep and maintenance of office environments through the management and coordination of external service providers and contractors.

This role is administrative, technical, and coordination-focused in nature and does not require the employee to personally perform plumbing, electrical, construction, repair, or handyman work.

This function includes, but is not limited to:

IT SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES (Primary Function)

  • Provide first-line IT support to employees across all branches.
  • Log, monitor, and manage IT support tickets, ensuring proper escalation to the Managed Services Provider (MSP) where required.
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting, including printers, desktops, connectivity issues, and workstation setup.
  • Set up, configure, and maintain office IT equipment, including desktops, laptops, workstations, printers, and network devices.
  • Support remote users and branches with IT-related issues.
  • Monitor and maintain IT asset tracking and ensure accurate maintenance of the Company asset register.
  • Conduct basic network connectivity checks and escalate technical issues where necessary.
  • Provide remote and occasional on-site support to the Cape Town and Pietermaritzburg branches.
  • Travel occasionally to branches for planned support, maintenance coordination, or issue resolution.

FACILITIES COORDINATION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the day-to-day coordination and upkeep of office spaces, warehouses, and common areas.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance or operational issues requiring attention.
  • Coordinate repairs and servicing by arranging appropriate external contractors or service providers, including plumbers, electricians, air-conditioning technicians, handymen, and general maintenance suppliers.
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure maintenance and repairs are completed effectively and timeously.
  • Support facility-related projects, including office moves, renovations, and space planning.
  • Manage office supplies, furniture, equipment, and general operational upkeep.
  • Assist with basic office operational tasks, including monitoring and restocking shared facility items where required.
  • Escalate facility concerns and ensure follow-through until resolution.

GENERAL

  • Perform ad hoc duties as reasonably required from time to time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Matric Certificate.
  • Basic IT qualification or relevant facilities related certification, preferred.
  • Some exposure to facilities management, IT support, or office administration (formal experience is not required, but preferred).
  • Basic understanding of building maintenance, vendor coordination, and office operations.
  • Familiarity with IT troubleshooting (ticketing systems, setting up workstations, resolving minor IT issues), preferred.
  • Previous exposure to a multi-branch work environment.
