Picking, Service & Assembly Controller/Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Picking, Service & Assembly Controller to join their warehouse and logistics team based in Pomona, Johannesburg.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating project stock movements, managing picking and assembly operations, supervising warehouse teams, and ensuring all project requirements are completed accurately and on time. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient warehouse operations, project readiness, and high-quality assembly standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the movement of stock to project staging areas.
  • Receive and coordinate pick slips, picking instructions, and project picking sequences.
  • Supervise and lead the Picking, Service & Assembly team, ensuring priorities are achieved efficiently.
  • Oversee the packing, marking, recording, and staging of picked stock.
  • Ensure stock is picked and transferred at least two days before scheduled collection or delivery dates.
  • Coordinate the picking of parts and components required for kitted products and system assemblies.
  • Ensure all components are correctly sorted, checked, and prepared for assembly.
  • Oversee the accurate assembly of kit products and systems according to project requirements.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations regarding kit assembly processes and component improvements.
  • Maintain effective warehouse management and storekeeping practices within the Picking & Assembly areas.
  • Plan and schedule production runs for the pipe drilling machine according to project requirements.
  • Ensure adequate blank pipe stock availability and that manufactured pipes are completed, packed, and labelled on time.
  • Ensure the drilling machine is serviced and maintained according to manufacturer standards.
  • Assist with staff training and development relating to assembly and warehouse procedures.
  • Provide support, coaching, and mentoring to team members where required.
  • Ensure accurate bin selection and stock recording when picking or returning items.
  • Enforce adherence to company policies and procedures within the team.
  • Maintain all Picking, Service & Assembly documentation and records.
  • Ensure warehouse housekeeping standards are consistently maintained.
  • Assist with packing, sorting, loading, offloading, and moving stock when required.
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual stock takes.
  • Perform additional warehouse-related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric Certificate or relevant qualification.
  • Previous stores or warehouse experience.
  • Knowledge of warehouse and storekeeping practices and procedures.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience working with warehouse machinery and equipment advantageous.
