About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Sugarcane Farm Manager to lead our sugarcane farming operations in KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will have a strong background in agriculture and leadership, with a proven track record of driving productivity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning, organising and controlling cane production activities in collaboration with staff and contractors by managing resources to achieve agreed targets
  • Developing and implementing crop management plans to maximise yield and ratoon longevity
  • Overseeing labour teams and contractors, ensuring productivity and compliance with labour laws
  • Monitoring and managing input costs (fertiliser, chemicals, fuel, labour)
  • Ensuring that all farming operations are conducted according to agricultural best practices
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports on production, costs, and performance
  • Monitoring and controlling operational expenditure and reporting on variances against budget
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Liaising with mills, agronomists, and suppliers
  • Driving continuous improvement and adoption of modern farming technologies

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field
  • Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in sugarcane farming, with at least 3 years in a senior/management role
  • Strong knowledge of sugarcane production systems in KwaZulu-Natal
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Experience with budgeting, planning, and cost control
  • Proficiency in isiZulu
  • Valid driver’s licence
