About the Role
The Actuarial Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting data to provide insight into the financial implications of risk and uncertainty for various insurance and financial products. They will work closely with the Actuarial team to develop and enhance pricing models, perform statistical analysis, and conduct actuarial valuations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform calculations required under SAM, SARB reporting, and internal management reporting
- Perform calculations and scenario testing for the ORSA cycle
- Provide technical support for new business investigations and provide technical support for pricing reviews
- Develop data requirements and reporting templates to support regulatory reporting
- Develop business requirement specifications through discussions and interviews with relevant stakeholders
- Track companywide offshore investment capacity
- Perform or review portfolio revisions or individual contract adjustments
- Develop customized specifications for data extracts depending on business needs
- Develop functional and technical specification documentation
- Continuously identify and implement incremental improvements to current processes, independent of larger project deliverables
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to prioritise project deliverables
- Effective stakeholder management – keep management, users and developers informed of progress through effective communication and management of expectations
Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification is essential (Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Risk Management/Mathematics/Actuarial Science)
- 2–3 years experience as an Actuarial or Risk analyst
- If following the Actuarial track, steady progression with Actuarial exams
- Registration as a student member with ASSA
- Basic SQL and programming skills required
- Must have Financial Services experience
- Work experience in a stockbroking/security environment beneficial
- Investment Management or LISP platform experience beneficial
- Must have creative skills in providing possible solutions to business requirements
