About the Role

The President/Chief Executive Officer will lead the expansion and growth of our mining industry company, driving sustainable business value creation and development in a dynamic global market. With a proven track record of innovative leadership and strategic decision-making, this executive will champion Zero-Harm Culture, ensure high-risk safety protocols, and secure a Social License to Operate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the expansion and growth of the business
  • Management of executive and/or top management team
  • Interaction and liaison at Board level
  • Strategic planning and implementation
  • Capital Allocation for multi-year projects
  • Managing Commodity Price Volatility
  • Strategic Negotiation for high-value off-take agreements
  • Financial Management
  • Securing and sustaining a Social License to Operate through MPRDA and/or BBBEE implementation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mining, Chemical, or Civil), Geology, or Metallurgy
  • MBA or equivalent degree in Business and/or Finance Management
  • Advanced Management and Leadership Development Program an added advantage
  • 10 years of innovative leadership in the relevant sector, with at least 5 years in a C-suite or Executive Vice President role

Advanced Management and Leadership Development Program will be an added advantage. Knowledge and Capabilities: Deep understanding of Global Commodity Markets and Industrial Symbiosis, as well as the micro and macro-economic factors with impact on the business. Proven track record in achieving sustainable business value creation and development. Strategic and long-term planning posture, with strategy implementation track record. Systems thinking is a holistic approach to analysis that focuses on how constituent parts of a system interact, influence, and depend on one another, rather than examining parts in isolation. Effective leadership skills and capabilities and resilience with abilities such as clear communication, strategic decision-making, and fostering trust. Complexity management skills to navigate unpredictable environments, incomplete information, and rapid change by transforming chaos into clear, actionable direction. Ability to drive Value-Led ESG Strategies that generate tangible value rather than just meeting compliance metrics. Championing Zero-Harm Culture and ensuring high-risk safety protocols are non-negotiable across all multi-site operations. Expertise in Capital Allocation for multi-year projects and managing Commodity Price Volatility. Strategic Negotiation for high-value off-take agreements and the ability to turn loss-making operations into profitability. Financial Management proven track record. Securing and sustaining a Social License to Operate through experience MPRDA and/or BBBEE implementation. Strategic and visionary aptitude with capability to influence the future and sustainability of the business. Commercial astuteness with capability to manage business customer and key supplier relations.
