Senior Cost & Project Controls Consultant

A well-established engineering and manufacturing group is seeking an experienced and commercially driven professional to take ownership of costing, project controls, management reporting, estimating, and operational financial analysis across multiple business units.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in:

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and improve costing models, labour recovery rates, and machine billing structures
Analyse job profitability, margins, overhead recovery, and operational efficiencies
Drive budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting
Implement and maintain practical cost control procedures and reporting systems
Support estimating and quotation validation for engineering and fabrication projects
Improve ERP/job costing system governance, reporting accuracy, and data integrity
Monitor WIP, utilisation, operational performance, and project profitability
Identify process improvements, waste reduction opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives
Work closely with workshop, fabrication, operations, commercial, and finance teams
Minimum Requirements:
Relevant qualification in Finance, Cost & Management Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Cost Engineering, or related field
510 years experience within engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy industrial environments
Strong experience in job costing, budgeting, forecasting, and project reporting
Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting capability
Experience with ERP/job costing systems
Strong analytical, commercial, and operational mindset
This role suits a hands-on individual who is comfortable working between the finance office and the production floor, turning operational data into meaningful commercial insights and practical decision-making tools.
