About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Milling professional to join our team in Pretoria, South Africa. As a Wheat Miller, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our milling plant, producing high-quality flour and other products while maintaining strict quality control standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Roller Mills: Ensure break releases on Wheat Mills are carried out on a weekly basis as per instruction.
- Roller Mills: Check all scrapers and roll brushes per shift and change if necessary.
- Roller Mills: Ensure roll hopper exhausts are fully operational per shift.
- Roller Mills: Maintain a balanced and consistent feed rate throughout the milling process.
- Plansifter: Carry out all sifter maintenance as per requirements and schedules.
- Plansifter: Replace burst covers on shift as required.
- Plansifter: Ensure inlet/outlet sleeves on sifter and purifiers are intact.
- Plansifter: Regularly clean screens of all turbo sieves on Germ system, including machine interiors.
- Purifiers: Ensure all purifier brushes are fully operational and in good condition at all times.
- Purifiers: Maintain air tunnel cleanliness and ensure correct separation on concentrators and maize mill aspirators.
- Aspiration and Exhausts: Monitor manometer readings on all filters to acceptable levels.
- Aspiration and Exhausts: Ensure pneumatic hammer and pulsing unit on filter is working at all times.
- Aspiration and Exhausts: Maintain heater banks at the correct temperature parameters.
- General Routine checks: Determine efficient running of milling machines with the Head Miller.
- Quality Control: Ensure final products are maintained within internal specifications.
- Quality Control: Accurately monitor gristing models and maintain WIP levels as determined by the Head Miller.
- Quality Control: Efficiently clean and prepare WIP materials.
- Quality Control: Test, record, and act on finished products in prescribed periods.
- Quality Control: Reduce waste on all milling plants.
- Plant Performance: Maintain prescribed extraction rates on respective milling plants.
- Plant Performance: Achieve an OEE rating of 95% minimum on all milling plants.
- Plant Performance: Accurately record and report production logs.
- Plant Performance: Reconcile mass balance detail on each milling plant.
- Plant Performance: Manage evaporative loss within prescribed parameters.
- Risk and Safety Management: Adhere to set safety policies and procedures.
- Risk and Safety Management: Practice safe working practices as per plant requirements.
Requirements
- Qualified Miller with trade tested experience in maize and/or wheat milling technologies
- Minimum 3 years of milling experience in a high-capacity plant (30 tons/hour)
- Fumigation and Grading certification
- Advanced milling qualifications, such as City and Guilds or NABIM, are advantageous
