About the Role

The Facilities Assistant role at Merand Corbett & Associates in Somerset West requires a skilled and detail-oriented individual to perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on building systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring equipment and systems operate efficiently and safely, while also promoting a safe and compliant working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and general facilities infrastructure
  • Carry out preventative maintenance tasks and general repairs
  • Ensure equipment and systems are operating efficiently and safely
  • Monitor, coordinate, and inspect work completed by external contractors
  • Assist with sourcing and liaising with contractors where required
  • Test and maintain security and safety systems within the facility
  • Report maintenance issues, completed tasks, and ongoing work requirements

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical installations
  • Previous experience in a facilities, maintenance, estates, or building support role
  • Experience with domestic electrical installations, basic plumbing, painting, tiling, and general building repairs
  • Exposure to health and safety regulations and compliance requirements
  • Gardening and grounds maintenance experience advantageous

Qualifications

  • Higher Certificate in Plumbing and/or Electrical (not specified)
