Job Description

Windmeul Cellar, located on the verdant Northern slopes of Paarl Mountain in the heart of the Winelands, is renowned for creating wines of distinction that are enjoyed both locally and abroad.

An exciting career opportunity exists for a CEO & Cellar Master to lead the cellar in achieving its strategic, production, and financial objectives. The incumbent will report to the Board of Directors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Management and Planning
  • Managing cellar and winemaking process
  • Managing viticultural activities
  • Managing facilities & infrastructure and the maintenance thereof
  • Marketing, Sales and Public Relations
  • Financial & Administrative Management
  • Human Resources Management
  • Reporting on all operations, results and deviations to the Board of Directors

Requirements for the ideal candidate:

  • A degree in winemaking / viticulture
  • Additional qualification(s) in management / finance will be beneficial
  • At least ten years of relevant experience at a management level with proven experience in the wine industry
  • Knowledge of / experience in the management, upkeep & expansion of cellar facilities
  • Proven experience in staff management
  • Sound marketing, sales and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills (Afrikaans & English)
  • Ability to maintain strong interpersonal relationships
  • Thorough financial knowledge and experience (financial management, business planning & budgeting, etc.)
  • Proactive strategic insight
  • Advanced organisational and planning skills
  • Well-developed decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Dynamic, self-driven and results-oriented

A market-related remuneration package will be negotiated based on qualifications, skills and experience.
