About the Role
AtripleA recruitment & temps is seeking an experienced Fibre Team Leader & Supervisor to join their team. As a key member of the fibre infrastructure maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of fibre optic cables and systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a leading company in South Africa’s telecommunications industry.
Key Responsibilities
• Be a hands-on On-site Supervisor
• Cables removal, installation, multi-cable transits
• Fiber Optic Splicing
• Fiber Optic Cable Installation
• Resolve and repair faults on the fiber optics systems and ensure that they work properly
• Rehabilitate faulty and old fiber optic cables and supporting infrastructure including site entry, manholes, handholes and other supporting infrastructure
• Organize scheduled maintenance on the fiber infrastructure
• Carry out route surveillance to ensure fiber infrastructure is secure and no developments are exposing fiber to damage
• Physical Audit all fiber infrastructure (underground and overhead) and regularly carry out route patrols to ensure security of infra
• Carry out health status of fiber cores using OTDR and carrying regular traces/sweeps for all unused cores
• Keep track of degraded Fiber segments (shared by NOC/Support) and schedule maintenance windows to carry out improvements.
• Formulate and maintain system records of Fiber core designs and update any changes on the as built or after every maintenance window
• Carry out preventive maintenance of sites and equipment
• Carry out FLM works for all network issues
• Provide remote login to second line support team
• Carry out surveys for new connections and fiber terminations
• Restoring links within SLA or less depending on the criticality
• Ensuring all attended sites are clearly labelled
Requirements
• Senior Certificate (essential)
• Min of 10 years’ experience in similar role
• Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering information to both technical and non-technical personnel
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Good problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
