About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Foreman to join our team at Kuzuko Lodge, a Private Game Reserve and Five Star Lodge in the Eastern Cape. As part of our social enterprise, we aim to create jobs in an area of high unemployment while rewilding and restoring the land. We are looking for someone who shares our vision of social upliftment and is committed to maintaining excellent guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily maintenance activities on-site when Maintenance Manager is off site
  • Plan and execute preventative maintenance tasks and general upkeep of the lodge, grounds and equipment
  • Help manage plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and minor construction tasks
  • Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruptions to guests
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Assist with stock take
  • Follow and lead by example according to our Purpose and Values
  • Keep detailed logs of servicing of all equipment and assets of all departments
  • Lead by example with appearance and personal hygiene and ensure that the uniform and personal appearance of the entire team is clean, neat and professional
  • Report to Management Team at regular times to advise on progress of projects and general maintenance tasks
  • Respond to all guest issues in a timely manner
  • Assist with other areas in the lodge, e.g. carrying luggage, as and when required

Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in maintenance

Strong technical skills with a good understanding across all trades and a specialism in at least one (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, general building)

Ability to work independently and lead a team in a remote environment

Experience managing a team

Valid driver’s license advantageous

Matric and any relevant trade certificates
