Job Description

Basic Requirements:

Formal Tertiary education:         Qualified Millwright Artisan

Languages:                               English – Read, write and speak (required)

                                                German – Speak (advantageous)

Drivers Licence:                         Yes

Travel:                                      Willing and able to travel locally and internationally

 

Experience:

  • Min 5 years of Millwright artisan experience in assembly, installation and fault finding and root cause identification in the Mechanical industry with machines, preferably in the automation industry
  • Experience in measuring and alignment procedures of various applications within the machine assembly process
  • Experience and ability to read and interpret details and requirements from mechanical design drawings and from mechanical soft-copy designs.
  • Experience with interfacing/extracting information provided externally by customers/suppliers, to be incorporated into existing assembly methods
  • Knowledge and experience of safety procedures within the company and on customer sites
  • Experience working with the ISO system as well as OSH, NOSA experience.
  • Comprehensive experience with mechanical assembly hand tools
  • Comprehensive experience with all relevant measuring, levelling and alignment equipment
  • Comprehensive experience in measuring and alignment procedures of various applications within the machine assembly process

 

Job Objectives:

  • Working within project requirements, HOD instructions, and budgets and timing to produce good quality standard facilities within those budgets and time constraints to ensure that the company’s project goals are met or exceeded.
  • Manage own work time and environment to ensure all environmental related issues such as housekeeping, neatness and accuracy are ensured and transferred to all staff to ensure high work standards.
  • To assemble special purpose machinery as per the design requirement using accurate and concise assembly techniques in order to achieve the required assembly tolerance
  • To functional test special purpose machinery to ensure the machine meets the design requirements as planned

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage front line Mechanical assembly requirements and instructions, ensuring meeting of short- and long-term project objectives
  • Work with all project drawings and documentation to assemble a facility of functional, quality and dimensional requirements
  • Follow health and safety procedures and operate withing the safety regulations of the company
  • Follow all assembly safety practices to ensure a quality, safe product is produced timeously as per project requirements
  • Acknowledge and accommodate the requirements to have to work additional hours to achieve project milestones
  • Document assembly restrictions, manage requirements and control delays with good communication skills and feedback to management and colleagues in a timely manner
  • Work within project’s budget, time requirements, special requirements and facility quality requirements to ensure that the company’s project goals are met or exceeded
  • Correctly identifying components for the purpose of the assembly application
  • Develop, track, evaluate and drive improvements in manufacturing and assembly methods
  • Confer with designers and manufacturing resources concerning product design to ensure efficient and correct assembly processes
  • Assist in planning of total operation requirements, including workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow and layout of workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Testing of sub-assembly units and complete facility to ensure it meets project, marketing, safety, product and customer requirements.
  • Keep proper documentation trail
  • Work on site, locally and abroad
  • Liaise confidently and constructively with specialist consultants e.g. Design Consultants/Suppliers
  • Manage and assist testing of facilities and tooling to conform to mechanical design specifications. Identify non-conformances and establish root cause.
