About the Role

Michelle Cloete Consulting Pty Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. As a key member of our accounting firm, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and assisting with the preparation of management accounts and payroll functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Process and reconcile petty cash and cash control accounts
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register
  • Prepare and process general journal entries, including:
  • Depreciation Provisions
  • Interest Salaries
  • Stock adjustments
  • Journal entries relating to: Instalment sale agreements, Interest on borrowings, Accruals of income and expenses, Bad debts, Other accounting adjustments
  • Reconcile debtors and creditors statements
  • Ensure correct accounting treatment for the disposal of property, plant and equipment, as well as investments, including the calculation of capital gains tax implications
  • Calculate PAYE, UIF, SDL levies, and VAT
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns, including: UIF, SDL, PAYE, VAT
  • Liaise with clients regarding payment of statutory returns
  • Prepare and process payroll
  • Reconcile input and output VAT to monthly trial balances
  • Compile monthly management accounts

Requirements

Relevant accounting or bookkeeping qualification

Minimum of 5 years bookkeeping experience

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and statutory compliance requirements

Experience with payroll and VAT reconciliations

Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Excellent organisational and communication skills

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
