About the Role

A rapidly growing organisation within the resources and engineering sector is seeking a General Accountant to join their finance team in the Northern Cape. This dynamic business operates within a technically complex environment, supporting large-scale operations in mining, engineering, and construction-related activities. This role offers exposure to end-to-end accounting in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment where precision, discipline, and commercial awareness are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full accounting function including journals, reconciliations, and month-end processes
Prepare accurate financial records, trial balances, and management reports
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support operational decision-making
Oversee creditors, debtors, and cashbook functions to ensure financial accuracy and control
Support audit processes and ensure compliance with IFRS and internal controls
Prepare statutory returns including VAT and other regulatory submissions
Contribute to financial reporting within a high-volume, operational mining/engineering environment

Requirements

Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) with 2–4 years post-articles experience
Strong accounting background with solid exposure to financial reporting and reconciliations
Mining, engineering, construction, or heavy industry experience highly advantageous
Strong technical accounting knowledge with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, operational environment
Proficient in Excel and financial systems with strong analytical capability
