About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Handyman to join our team at Merand Corbett & Associates. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing maintenance services to our clients, ensuring their properties are well-maintained and running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Perform general repairs including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and minor electrical work
  • Repair fixtures, doors, windows, furniture, and appliances
  • Respond to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies
  • Assemble furniture and install fittings and fixtures
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, units, and outdoor spaces
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and report major issues to the supervisor
  • Perform general ad hoc maintenance duties as required

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a handyman or similar maintenance role
  • Trade certification (electrical, plumbing, etc.) will be advantageous
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Experience as a safety representative advantageous
  • Skilled in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and basic electrical maintenance
  • Ability to use tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual work
  • Good communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail
  • Professional and respectful approach when working with elderly residents
