About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Demand Planner to join our dynamic retail team at an industry-leading retail brand in Johannesburg. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for bridging the gap between supply and sales by creating precise forecasts and maintaining optimal stock levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts to ensure optimal inventory levels across all retail channels.
  • Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and seasonal patterns to predict future product demand.
  • Manage inventory life cycles, identifying slow-moving items and potential stockouts to mitigate financial risk.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to align inventory replenishment with forecasted demand.
  • Lead monthly demand planning meetings with sales and marketing teams to incorporate promotional activity into forecasts.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as forecast accuracy, bias, and inventory turnover.
  • Utilize advanced planning software and Excel models to streamline data analysis and reporting.
  • Adjust forecasts based on real-time supply chain disruptions or sudden shifts in consumer behavior.

Requirements

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 35 years of experience in demand planning specifically within a retail environment.
  • Proven expertise in statistical forecasting and inventory management principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP or demand planning software.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating between various internal departments.
