About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Sandton. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project commercial management, subcontractor procurement, and cost control. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and with minimal risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Commercial Management
- Take ownership of project cost control from award to final account
- Establish and maintain budgets, cash flows, forecasts, and cost-to-complete reports
- Produce monthly commercial reports for directors
- Manage subcontractor procurement, tender adjudication, appointment, and commercial terms
- Approve subcontractors and commercial conditions
- Negotiate rates, variations, and final accounts
- Review and sign off subcontractor payment certificates
- Control retention, materials on site, and contra-charges
- Ensure payments align with progress and JBCC requirements
- Prepare and manage variations, delay and disruption claims, extension of time cost impacts
- Ensure all claims are contractually compliant and fully supported
- Maintain change registers, early warning notices, instruction logs, and commercial correspondence
- Protect the company’s contractual position at all times
Requirements
- BSc in Quantity Surveying
- Minimum 5 years contractor-side experience
- Proven experience running large construction projects (R50m)
- Strong working knowledge of JBCC contracts
- Experience with CCS Candy
- Valid drivers license
