Junior Mechanical Design Engineer Cape Town Are you a high-achieving engineering graduate with a passion for thermal systems and large-scale industrial projects? We are looking for a dynamic, driven Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our specialized industrial division. Your Profile Education: BEng, BSc or MSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience: 03 years of experience in an industrial or heavy-engineering environment. Academic Excellence: A strong transcript, specifically in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, CFD, and Stress Analysis. Communication: Exceptional English skills; you should be as comfortable presenting to a client as you are drafting a technical report. The “Travel Bug”: Willingness to travel internationally to oversee project execution and commissioning in diverse locations Key Responsibilities Thermal & Fluid Design: Lead the thermal sizing and fluid dynamics modeling for high-pressure industrial systems. Pressure Equipment Design: Execute detailed mechanical designs for pressure parts and associated heavy-industrial equipment. Full Lifecycle Ownership: Support projects from the initial tender and quotation phase through to onsite commissioning and after-sales service. Technical Specification: Define and source specialized equipment and components for large-scale industrial installations. Quality Assurance: Review, approve, and take engineering accountability for technical drawings issued by the design office. Technical Toolkit To excel in this role, you should be proficient in: Design & Modeling: Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Plant 3D. Simulation: Ansys Fluent (or similar CFD software).

About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our engineering team, you will support mechanical design, analysis, and technical documentation, while contributing to project activities across various stages of the engineering lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering team with mechanical design, analysis, and technical documentation
  • Assist with the preparation and review of engineering drawings and specifications
  • Participate in project activities across various stages of the engineering lifecycle
  • Compile basic calculations, reports, and engineering documentation
  • Liaise with internal teams to support project delivery and technical requirements

Requirements

  • 0 – 2 years experience in a mechanical engineering role or internship
  • Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; exposure to CAD software will be advantageous
