Job Description
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Part-Time HR Consultant to support a range of client projects across different industries. This role is suited to someone who has strong generalist HR knowledge, understands South African HR compliance requirements, and is comfortable working across multiple clients at the same time.
The ideal person will be organised, practical, professional, and able to move between operational HR support, compliance work, employee relations, HR documentation, and client advisory support.
The HR Consultant will be responsible for supporting clients with the following:
HR Advisory and Generalist Support
- Provide practical HR guidance to clients on day-to-day people matters.
- Support managers with HR processes, employee relations, performance concerns, and workplace conduct matters.
- Assist with the implementation of HR policies, procedures, and best practice processes.
- Provide professional and clear communication to clients, employees, and internal team members.
HR Compliance
- Assist clients with HR compliance in line with South African labour legislation, including the BCEA, LRA, EEA, and related employment requirements.
- Review and update HR documents, contracts, policies, and templates.
- Support clients with record-keeping, HR audits, and compliance checks.
- Identify HR risks and recommend practical solutions.
HR Processes and Documentation
- Draft and update employment contracts, letters, policies, procedures, job descriptions, and HR reports.
- Support onboarding, probation, performance management, disciplinary processes, and exit processes.
- Assist with employee file management and HR administration where required.
- Ensure HR processes are applied consistently and professionally across clients.
Multi-Client Support
- Manage work across multiple clients with different priorities, deadlines, and business environments.
- Keep accurate records of client work completed, actions required, and deadlines.
- Follow up on outstanding items and ensure tasks are completed within agreed timelines.
- Adapt communication and support according to each clients needs and working environment.
Working Arrangements
This is a part-time role, with working hours to be agreed based on business and client needs. The role may include remote work, internal meetings, and occasional client site visits.
The position may become full-time at a later stage depending on business growth, client requirements, and performance in the role.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Labour Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years HR generalist experience.
- Good working knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR compliance requirements.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders, managers, or clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to draft professional HR documentation.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a consulting, outsourced HR, or multi-client environment.
Advantageous Requirements
- Experience in HR consulting or outsourced HR services.
- Experience with HR systems such as Zoho People, Zoho Recruit, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting performance management, disciplinary processes, onboarding, and policy implementation.
- Exposure to different industries such as professional services, security, manufacturing, retail, or operational environments.
