About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and guest-focused Cellar Door Ambassador for a luxury hotel based in Cape Town. As a passionate wine and hospitality professional, you will deliver exceptional guest experiences within a premium tasting room environment. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and make a lasting impression on our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming guests and delivering professional, informative wine tastings
- Setting up and preparing the tasting area for daily service
- Conducting cellar tours and enhancing guest experiences
- Managing wine sales, including local and international orders
- Handling cash, card transactions, and daily cash-ups
- Maintaining accurate stock counts and product displays
- Supporting wine club and customer enquiries
- Building strong relationships with guests and encouraging repeat visits
- Assisting with events, functions, and wine shows
- Ensuring excellent customer service and resolving guest queries or complaints
- Maintaining cleanliness of the tasting room, including glassware and service areas
- Supporting health and safety compliance at all times
- Assisting with administrative tasks, bookings, and general operational duties
Requirements
- Matric certificate
- Wine or hospitality-related qualification (WSET or similar advantageous)
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a similar wine sales or cellar door environment
- Strong understanding of wine and willingness to learn product knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- High attention to detail and strong numerical ability
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- High energy, professional, and guest-centric approach
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, standing environment for extended periods
