About the Role
Pump and Abrasion Technologies (PABT) is a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and assembly of heavy-duty slurry pumps. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Centurion: Buyer through our internship programme. As a buyer, you will play a crucial role in sourcing, negotiating, and finalizing orders for direct and indirect materials, ensuring optimized supplier costs and performance results.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform duties in sourcing, negotiating, and finalizing all orders relating to the purchase of direct and indirect materials for the company.
- Manage a continuous improvement program regarding external suppliers and benchmark total cost and performance.
- Conduct regular price comparisons between various retail chains to ensure consistent competitiveness.
- Negotiate with vendors and suppliers of agreed materials for cost reductions and delivery schedules, utilizing initiatives such as consignment stock agreements.
- Regularly procure from local and international suppliers to ensure consistent supply and availability.
- Daily price negotiations with suppliers.
- Build relationships with internal and external customers throughout the value chain.
- Manage daily stock levels, forecasting, and demand planning.
- Collaborate with the technical team to ensure that suppliers deliver desired quality.
- Resolve all relevant internal and external queries efficiently.
- Process Requisitions and complete supplier application forms.
- Place orders with suppliers and request quotes from them.
- Perform other administrative tasks as requested.
Requirements
- BCom Degree or any other relevant qualification is essential.
- Some experience in supply chain or procurement is an added advantage.
- Exposure to international procurement practice will be advantageous.
- Suitable candidate should be highly energetic, self-driven, independent, and self-motivated with extensive problem-solving and communication skills.
