About the Role
We are looking for a sharp, tech-savvy Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team in Durban. If you are grounded in core bookkeeping principles but energized by the future of finance, this is the role for you. Our finance department handles multiple entities and a full accounting cycle, meaning there is plenty to keep you engaged.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise Pastel invoices and keep our internal tracker current.
- Capture weekly transactions across all bank accounts accurately coded with zero gaps.
- Post monthly journals (payroll, recurring entries, adjustments) and support the close-off process, including preparing internal audit packs.
- Capture and reconcile credit card transactions, chase supporting documents, and handle monthly petty cash administration.
- Capture internal charges and maintain smooth approval workflows across multiple entities.
- Run monthly supplier reconciliations to keep creditor balances clean and accurate.
- Prepare the weekly payment batch and supporting documentation packs for executive sign-off.
- Actively manage the weekly age analysis, conduct overdue follow-ups, and meticulously record client interactions.
Requirements
- Education: BTech Qualification in Accounting or an equivalent relevant 3-year tertiary qualification.
- Experience: 3 years experience in a dedicated accounting/bookkeeping position.
- Software: 2 years of solid, hands-on experience using Pastel Accounting .
- MS Office: Intermediate Excel skills.
