About the Role
The Gravure Operator is a critical role within our printing facility, responsible for producing high-quality printed products in accordance with customer specifications, production schedules, and company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate gravure printing presses according to job specifications.
- Load and prepare printing cylinders, inks, and substrates.
- Adjust machine settings to achieve optimal print quality and production efficiency.
- Monitor machine performance throughout production runs.
- Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure print accuracy, colour consistency, and registration.
- Identify printing defects and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards.
- Ensure finished products meet customer and company requirements.
- Follow production schedules and meet daily output targets.
- Minimize waste and downtime by identifying and resolving operational issues promptly.
- Accurately complete production reports and job documentation.
- Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on gravure printing equipment.
- Troubleshoot machine faults and escalate major issues to maintenance personnel when required.
- Ensure equipment is maintained in a safe and operational condition.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Proven experience as a Gravure Operator within a printing or packaging environment
- Sound knowledge of gravure printing processes and quality standards
- Ability to read and interpret production specifications and job cards
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work shifts and overtime when required
