About the Role

As a Junior Bookkeeping Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting our bookkeeping and accounting team with day-to-day financial processing using cloud-based accounting systems. You will report to the Senior Bookkeeper and contribute to the organization’s success by ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks. This internship is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals looking to gain experience in the field of bookkeeping and accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the bookkeeping and accounting team with day-to-day financial processing using cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Assist with the accurate capture, reconciliation, and maintenance of client financial records.
  • Liaise with senior bookkeepers, accountants, and payroll administrators to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Communicate with clients on basic information requests, under supervision, in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Assist in preparing supporting schedules for management accounts, tax, and compliance work.
  • Help maintain organised financial documentation and ensure records meet internal and statutory requirements.
  • Adhere to firm policies, deadlines, and quality standards while managing allocated tasks responsibly.
  • Take accountability for learning, skill development, and applying feedback to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
  • Must not have participated on the YES programme before.
  • Matric.
  • Completed post-school Accounting Diploma.
  • Demonstrates basic numerical accuracy, including ability to work confidently with invoices, receipts, and financial figures.
  • Computer Literacy: Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, including use of simple formulas (e.g. SUM) and data entry.
