Durban: Principle Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principle Engineer to join our team in Durban. As a key member of our production engineering department, you will be responsible for driving process improvement initiatives and ensuring the implementation of waste elimination strategies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to standardize processes, drive quality targets, and improve overall manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Elimination of waste: Drive ME Improvement objectives by analysis of lost time using relevant problem-solving techniques.
  • Monitor & reduce scrap (By means of but not limited to the TQM process)
  • Ensure all agreed improvements are timeously planned and implemented.
  • Continuous Improvement: Standardize all Processes Drive improvement targets through the ME and TQM processes.
  • Kaizen Initiatives (Drive A3 problem solving activities to eliminate waste, improve Quality and production output within all areas of control).
  • 5s: Ensure 5S principles are practiced at all times. Ensure 5S initiatives are implemented on new lines.
  • Health, Safety and Environment: Comply with all applicable compliance obligations to which the company subscribes to.
  • Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Provide a workplace that is without risk of injury and ill-health.
  • Drive initiatives to ensure that we improve our environment and prevent pollution.
  • Correct PPE & PPC Usage in all areas of control (Advise and standardize the use of the correct PPE and PPC for facility and Process requirements).
  • Quality: Meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Risk Based Thinking (Identify risks that will affect quality for new and existing products and implement the required actions to alleviate these risks).
  • Approval of manufacturing processes and equipment (Jigs, fixtures and manufacturing processes will need to be designed, manufactured/ implemented, and bought off/ approved to the relevant standards within the organisation).
  • Assist in trial activities to ensure all internal and customer requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Critical)
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent CAD
  • Use of Measuring Equipment
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience in a Production Engineering Environment
  • 5 to 10 years experience in Process/ Industrial Engineering
