About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Draughtsman to join our team at Green Marble Recruitment Consultants. As a Junior Draughtsman, you will be responsible for generating detailed 2D technical drawings and 3D models for vehicle components and assemblies using CAD software. You will also support design processes by assisting senior engineers with vehicle modifications and maintaining engineering documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generates detailed 2D technical drawings and 3D models for vehicle components and assemblies using CAD software.
  • Supports design processes by assisting senior engineers with vehicle modifications, including chassis adjustments, interior fit-outs, and specialised equipment integration, ensuring designs are functional and manufacturable.
  • Maintains and updates engineering documentation by accurately logging and archiving all drawing revisions.
  • Compiles and verifies Bills of Materials to ensure all parts and hardware are accurately accounted for in production.
  • Administers PLM systems by uploading, organising, and managing CAD data, BOMs, and technical specifications.
  • Manages version control by tracking drawing revisions and ensuring outdated documentation is properly decommissioned.
  • Ensures quality compliance by adhering to ISO, SANS, and company-specific drafting standards.
  • Collaborates with production teams to resolve design queries and incorporate feedback into updated drawings.

Requirements

  • Matric.
  • National Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Draughting, or a related technical field.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in a technical drawing environment (automotive or manufacturing internship advantageous).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD).
  • Basic knowledge of PLM/PDM systems.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of mechanical components and manufacturing processes (sheetmetal, welding, machining).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation.
