About the Role

As a Production Manager (Welding) at AJ Personnel, you will be responsible for overseeing the production process to ensure efficiency and quality standards are met. You will work closely with other departments to achieve shared goals and report to senior management on key performance indicators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work across functions with peers in other departments to ensure collaboration for shared goals
  • Engage and co-ordinate with other Managers across the Company
  • Interact with senior management for reporting
  • Report back to senior management on productivity and other performance indicators
  • Ensure orders are completed on time
  • Identify & investigate drop in performance, obstruction & delays
  • Identify incident root cause & implement corrective and preventive measures
  • Monitor and measure compliance of standards
  • Monitor and review manufacturing operations and processes to ensure quality standards are maintained
  • Ensure all production processes are cost effective and efficient
  • Communicate goals and key performance indicators to direct reports
  • Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly tasks are allocated and delegated
  • Recruitment and selection
  • Identify knowledge gaps and arrange training
  • Monitor employee absences, and address and resolve patterns and abuse
  • Counselling, disciplinary action, grievances, and conflict resolution
  • Ensure all equipment and machines are maintained and serviced to specification
  • Plan and order material in accordance with production requirements
  • Ensure adequate stock levels
  • Ensure that processes and procedures are developed and effectively implemented to help the department meet its operational and strategic goals
  • Identify gaps in processes and implementing improvement measures
  • Ensure acceptable quality standards for all processes and procedures from all team members
  • Ensure ISO 3834 requirements are met, maintained and ISO certifications are upheld
  • Production processes, equipment being used and working environments are all conducive
  • Production activities are monitored to ensure that appropriate manufacturing methods are employed
  • Rectification and/or repair of non-conforming product as a priority, and that relevant departments are informed of delays and revised schedules
  • Finished goods are checked and found to be correct, complete, and compliant prior to handover to following department
  • Finished goods are well packed and correctly labelled where required

Requirements

  • Matric Plus a relevant tertiary qualification
  • SAIW or IIW Level 1 Welding Inspector Diploma or equivalent
  • Refrigeration experience would be beneficial
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role is essential
  • Previous exposure within a production environment
  • Strong technical/operational background
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications
