CNC Operator & Shopfitter / Cabinetmaker – R10,000 R14,000 per month A dual-role opportunity for an experienced woodworker or cabinetmaker who also possesses CNC programming and operation skills to split time between the machine and the workshop floor. About Our Client The company utilizes a CNC machine for wood processing alongside traditional workshop production. The business produces cabinetry and shopfitting units according to technical drawings and production schedules. The Role: CNC Operator & Shopfitter / Cabinetmaker The purpose of this role is to split time between programming and running the CNC machine when needed, and working on the floor doing traditional shopfitting, cabinetry, and assembly for the rest of the day. The main focus areas involve programming components, converting technical drawings, operating the machine, and actively participating in workshop production when the CNC is idle. Key Responsibilities Program components using UCanCam or similar nested-base CNC software and read, interpret, and convert technical drawings into machine-ready files. Load programs via USB, set up the CNC machine, select correct tooling, and safely operate the machine for wood processing. Perform basic routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the CNC machine. Participate actively in traditional workshop production, including cutting, edging, assembly, and preparation of cabinetry/shopfitting units when the CNC is idle. Ensure all pieces are machined and built accurately according to production schedules. Double-check raw materials and finished parts against technical drawings to minimize waste and defects. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation, adhering to workshop health and safety guidelines. About You Minimum Matric. Proven, hands-on experience in shopfitting, joinery, or cabinetry with an understanding of how a cabinet is constructed and goes together. Experience programming with UCanCam or highly similar CNC software. Competent in setting up and operating a CNC wood-processing machine, including transferring drawings via USB and executing them. Ability to read and thoroughly understand technical/manufacturing drawings. Proactive “can-do” attitude and happy to step away from the machine and work on the bench with the team. Meticulous attention to detail and high standards of quality. Reliable, punctual, and able to work well within a workshop environment.
