About the Role

Our client, a reputable and growing business in the distribution industry, is seeking a Commercial Financial Manager to strengthen their finance function. Operating in a high-volume, performance-driven environment, the company places strong emphasis on efficiency, cost control, and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full financial function, ensuring alignment with business strategy
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports with actionable insights
  • Drive the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring accuracy and alignment to business goals
  • Partner with operational teams to improve profitability and drive efficiencies
  • Oversee and enhance month-end and year-end close processes
  • Ensure compliance with financial governance and reporting standards
  • Manage working capital, including debtors, creditors, and inventory control
  • Provide detailed analysis on margins, pricing, and distribution costs
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements
  • Oversee capex planning, reporting, and asset utilisation
  • Manage audit processes, tax compliance, and deferred tax calculations
  • Lead and develop the finance team, driving accountability and performance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to support strategic initiatives

Requirements

  • CA(SA) qualification is essential
  • Minimum of 57 years post-article experience
  • At least 23 years experience in a finance leadership role
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven experience partnering with operations
  • Experience within the distribution, logistics, or supply chain sector is highly advantageous
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
  • High attention to detail with a results-driven mindset
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
