About the Role
As a data analyst in our Johannesburg office, you will play a crucial role in extracting insights from complex data sets and translating them into actionable recommendations for business growth. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports, ensuring seamless integration of data from multiple sources.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract, clean, and analyze data using SQL and other tools
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI
- Translate business requirements into actionable insights
- Support the implementation and maintenance of MDM processes
- Ensure consistency and integrity of key data domains (customer, product, vendor)
- Assist in defining and implementing data quality rules and metrics
- Monitor and report on data quality issues and support remediation efforts
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to integrate data from multiple sources
- Support ETL processes and ensure seamless data flow across systems
- Document data definitions, processes, and workflows
- Work with stakeholders to understand data needs and provide analytical support
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 1 year of experience in a data analyst or similar role
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation
- Experience with Power BI for dashboard creation and data visualization
- Understanding of Master Data Management principles and tools
- Familiarity with Data Quality (DQ) rule implementation and monitoring
- Experience with data integration and ETL processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Qualifications (Advantageous)
- Certification in Power BI or SQL
- Experience with Python for data analysis
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and data lakes
- Skills/keywords: Data Engineering, ETL/ELT, Data Warehousing, Synapse, Docker/Kubernetes, Kafka, API Integration, Data Governance, MDM, POPIA
