About the Role
The Lab Manager at Truco is responsible for overseeing all laboratory testing activities to ensure compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all laboratory testing activities (raw materials, in-process, and finished goods)
- Ensure rubber compound testing complies with internal specifications and customer requirements
- Approve test results and authorize release of materials/products
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Maintain accurate test records, certificates of compliance, and traceability
- Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions
- Support ISO and quality audits (internal and external)
- Support product development trials and technical improvements
- Analyze test data to improve compound performance
- Collaborate with Production Manager on process optimization
- Assist with root cause analysis for product failures
- Provide technical guidance to workshop and production teams
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act, ISO Quality standards (if applicable), internal SOPs and work instructions, safe laboratory and workshop environments, proper chemical handling and storage, and supervise Lab Assistant
- Conduct performance reviews and monthly check-ins
- Train staff on testing procedures and production standards
- Ensure SOP adherence and accountability
- Identify skill gaps and training needs
