About the Role
Our client, a well-established organisation operating within the manufacturing and construction industry, is seeking to employ an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join their Operations team. This role is based in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all tools and machinery are in working order and report damaged / broken tools
- Ensure tools are replaced or repaired and follow up with management
- Check all safety equipment / safety clothing monthly and record on checklist
- Maintenance of the building and working area, including breakages, construction issues, security and garden maintenance
- Repair and routine maintenance of production equipment and facilities
- Control, measure and reduce scrap and other waste
- Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed
- Maintaining a clean, clear, tidy working environment
- Conduct site visits for measurements for installations, repairs or maintenance
- Perform service, installation and maintenance of products
- Ensure all stock is placed in correct bins and locations
- Control stock issued and returned by technicians
- Oversee receiving of stock and offloading of containers
- Ensure accurate receiving and dispatch processes
- Ensure inventory levels are optimized
- Report stock discrepancies, shortages or excess
- Ensure stock is counted correctly on delivery against supplier documentation
- Perform spot checks on customer deliveries
- Assist customers collecting stock with required documentation
- Assist with stock counts and ensure accuracy
- Ensure correct labelling, storage and dispatch of stock
- Maintain organised and colour-coded storage systems
- Ensure tools and machinery are in working order and report issues
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
- Ensure safety of self and co-workers
- Ensure customer satisfaction in all interactions
- Maintain professionalism and represent the company positively
- Strive to exceed customer expectations
- Provide customers with product information and updates
- Identify opportunities for additional product sales
- Provide contact details for support and servicing
- Provide feedback on staff performance
- Ensure staff perform assigned duties
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements
- Attend workshops, meetings and training
- Attend toolbox and safety talks
- Implement newly learned skills in the workplace
- Report problems within the working area
- Take responsibility for work performance
- Strive for excellence in daily duties
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent Technical Certificate
- Tertiary Production and Stock Management related qualification an advantage
- Minimum 5 years experience as Workshop Mechanic
- Minimum 5 years experience working in a Factory/Production environment
- Experience in the Construction Sector
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Ability to work at heights (working at heights certification necessary)
- Ability to perform basic electrical applications (electrical qualification an advantage)
- Ability to work with hand tools and power tools
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Construction industry knowledge
- Technical fault finding and solution application
- Site Management
- Valid South African Drivers License with own transport
- Welding: Tig welding, Arc welding, CO2 welding and Spot welding
- Risk Assessment qualification
