Job Description

Reporting to the Operations Director, this position is responsible for the overall plants / facilities
management, operations and maintenance, whilst ensuring optimal operational plant performance
and product production in accordance with set KPI’s, product specification and quality conformance
of the water treatment plant(s) within the area of responsibility.
This position will be based in Witbank.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Oversee and manage respective Plant Managers, Production & Maintenance teams within the area of responsibility
  • Ensure compliance to contractual quality and quantity KPI’s for respective contracts
  • Ensure adherence and compliance to our and Client HSE standards on all sites
  • Take accountability for Safety Performance in accordance with the MHSA/OSHA legal appointment
  • Implement operational systems, processes, controls and reporting for respective plants / facilities
  • Maintain effective administration and control procedures to meet performance objectives, including financial control, HR/IR, procurement and stock control and stock management.
  • Identify continuous improvement and optimization initiatives and manage the implementation thereof
  • Accountable for the Overall area P&L : Implement and maintain Financial Control with Profit & Loss accountability for each plant and the area operations
  • Manage the monitoring and detail records and reporting on all aspects of the plant performance and respective processes
  • Monitoring of upgrade and expansion projects as well as plant performance improvement projects
  • Ensure efficient resource management of employees to ensure they can meet the set / agreed performance objectives
  • Responsible for client interface, correspondence and communication whilst ensuring client satisfaction by delivering a professional and high-quality service
  • Review Plant Reports and attend client meetings as required
  • Monitor plant health performance and pro-actively intervene to ensure plant availability is maximized and optimized
  • Responsible for effective communication and reporting to the Operations Director
  • Responsible for effective Contract Management and Contract Administration
  • Responsible for business development and growing the business with area of responsibility
  • Perform plant operational standby duties

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

  • Qualifications: B.Eng or BTech in Engineering (Chemical Engineering Qualification is preferred; Civil and Mechanical will be considered depending on relevant experience)
  • Minimum of >5 years’ experience in advanced water treatment.
  • Experience in RO, UF, Precipitation and Clarification will be an advantage
  • Previous experience and proven track record as Plant Manager / Area Manager, will be an advantage
  • Good understanding of plant health and managing water treatment assets
  • Proven record of satisfactory prior experience and performance
  • High level of computer skills competency: Word, Excel, data base, PowerPoint and e-mail
  • Good communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Well skilled and experienced in performance and conflict management and resolution
  • Skills in planning, attention to detail and process troubleshooting
  • Ethical and responsible behavior
  • Innovative and accountable
  • Client interface and expectation management
  • Systematic approach to problem solving
