Location: Centurion Hybrid working (3 days in office)
Salary: negotiable depending on suitable experience
Our client, operating within the soft commodities trading industry, is looking to appoint a dynamic and driven young professional (2-3years experience) to join their logistics and execution team.
This role is focused on supporting the Logistics Manager with the co-ordination and movement of commodities both locally and cross-border.
We are specifically looking for a candidate who has experience dealing with multiple transporters simultaneously, ideally someone coming from a transport broking environment where they have managed relationships with 1020 transporters at any given time. The successful candidate must be comfortable working outside of standard office hours when operational demands require it.
Requirements:
- 2-3 years experience in logistics ideally from a Transport Broking company.
- Experience managing multiple (10-20) transporters simultaneously
- Strong communication and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work under pressure within a high-volume operational environment
- Willingness to work extended or irregular hours when required
- Strong administrative and coordination skills
- Exposure to soft commodities or agricultural logistics would be advantageous
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating the execution of physical trades from contract stage through to final delivery
- Sourcing of transporters
- Booking for trucks
- Working closely with transporters to ensure the timely movement of goods
- Monitoring delivery timelines and resolving execution-related issues as they arise
- Liaising with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operational flow
- Handling operational queries relating to shipments, stock, and deliveries
- Co-ordinating local and cross-border logistics operations (Zim, Zambia, Mozambique)
- Managing transporter communication and scheduling to ensure operational efficiency
- Assisting in scaling logistics operations in line with business growth
The operation currently manages approximately 500 local truck movements per month, with plans to scale this to 1,000 trucks monthly. Cross-border movements currently average around 50 trucks per month and are expected to increase to approximately 100 trucks monthly in future.
