About the Role
Our client, an underwriting management agency specialising in aviation, HCV & commercial, lifestyle, personal accident and renewable energy, requires a Portfolio Manager (HCV & Commercial) to build and preserve trusting relationships with their customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Find ways to outperform our competition and maintain our company’s positive image.
- Act as an excellent communicator.
- Work with underwriters and build rapport with short term insurance brokers.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
- Maintain strong relationships with our brokers.
- Boost our brand and profits in the long run.
- Call on existing Financial intermediaries.
- Canvass new Financial Intermediaries specializing in Heavy commercial and commercial business.
- Ensure that risks are written within the company’s risk appetite and complies within the reinsurance treaties and internal mandates.
- Monitor and take corrective action on badly performing risks.
- Maintain an acceptable loss ratio.
- Maintain policy wording drafts and ensure that the product remains competitive with market offering.
- Deal with day to day queries and amendments to existing policies.
- Provide brokers with advice.
- Maintain and build good customer relationships with brokers.
- Conduct product training to brokers.
- Provide input into building and designing various aspects of the products on a designated system.
- Provide comparisons between the competitors’ products.

Qualifications & Experience
- 3 years’ experience as a broker consultant / portfolio manager
- Experience in working with HCV and Commercial products
- NQF Level 4: Short-Term Commercial Lines 60 Credits
- Successfully completed the RE 5 Examination Level 1
