Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our group of game lodges in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality and management, with a proven track record of driving business growth and ensuring exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Develop strategic relationships with local stakeholders, including governmental organizations, wildlife organizations, and communities.
Create and maintain detailed skills development plans for all staff.
Prepare annual business plans for all lodges and oversee implementation within specified time frames and budgets.
Manage budget creation and implementation, CAPEX structuring, and planning.
Ensure all group internal financial controls and systems are in place and strictly adhered to.
Oversee human resources, including labor relations, leave, and medical funds management.
Create annual and monthly training plans for all departments and structure external training and exchanges with other lodges/regions where possible.
Develop individualized lodge strategies to enhance guest delight, staff development, and welfare, health, and safety.
Work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure menu quality standards are met and food budgets are monitored.
Collaborate with Lodge Managers, Assistant Managers, Head Rangers, camp managers, and Departmental Managers to maintain service standards.
Host daily meetings with the management team and Heads of Department to discuss the daily plan.
Ensure all health and safety compliance standards are met and/or exceeded.
Oversee safety and security of all guests, lodge staff, and company assets.
Lead lodge conservation and sustainability efforts.

Requirements

Relevant tertiary qualification in Management or Hospitality (highly beneficial).
Minimum of 5 years General Management experience or 3 years Group General Manager experience (essential for high-end, luxury establishments).
International experience highly beneficial.
Good financial acumen (English).
Excellent people skills.
Hosting and guest interaction experience.
