About the Role

AC Gear is seeking two Quality Control Inspectors to join our team, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. As a key member of our Quality Control team, you will play a critical role in maintaining our reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand all products and where they are placed.
  • Itemise the variables that occur in fabric production to provide a complete check.
  • Develop a specification in several parts or sections to ensure design and production staff has a clear idea of what is needed, as per QC documentation and/or sample.
  • Check acceptable working tolerances in relation to all values on the specification.
  • Establish fault rate recording systems – completing the fault spreadsheet as required.
  • Highlight sewing problems and bring them to the Supervisor’s and Production attention.
  • Understand all products and where all products form kits.
  • Follows checks as per Job card/ QC page – completes job card and signs off.
  • Measures product as per pattern, ensuring measurements fall within an acceptable range for tents, awnings, and awning side walls and specific smalls.
  • Checks fabric quality – ensures no permanent damage to fabric such as holes, tears, or nicks.
  • Cleans chalk markings off fabric.
  • Checks seams are stitched evenly/straight and not skew.
  • Checks no unpicking; missed stitching double stitching; incorrect thread colour used.
  • Pack checked products into Finished Goods Area.
  • Ensure all products are packed in the correct shelf according to the label of the product.
  • Packs products in delivery bags ready for collection.
  • Provide support function to machinists by helping sew or cut, and admin staff during busy periods if necessary.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a quality control inspector or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control principles, practices, and tools.
  • Proficiency in using measurement tools and equipment, and ability to interpret engineering and designer drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects and deviations from standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling tools and equipment.
