About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Underground Construction Manager to join our client’s team on a 12-month contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all construction activities within the mining production timelines, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed construction plans and schedules in alignment with mining production timelines
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure project success
- Supervise all construction activities on-site, enforcing strict safety protocols and procedures
- Manage subcontractors and construction crews effectively to ensure timely delivery of construction materials and equipment
- Monitor project budgets and control costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
- Allocate labor, equipment, and materials efficiently, managing logistics and supply chain coordination
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, promoting a culture of safety among all site personnel
- Oversee inspections and testing of materials and structures to ensure construction meets design specifications and standards
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients, providing regular progress updates and reports
Requirements
- Engineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 10 years experience in construction management within the mining industry
- Strong knowledge of mining operations, construction techniques, and project management
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Solid understanding of environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements
