Job Description
1. Product Development Leadership
- Own the full Product Development Process (PDP) from concept to mass production — on time, on cost, and to the highest quality standard
- Translate founder vision into clear Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), engineering briefs and structured sprint plans
- Lead sprint planning and allocate work across Mechanical, Electrical and Industrial Design partners
2. Engineering & Prototyping
- Drive feasibility validation, DFM (Design for Manufacture) coordination, prototyping, testing and certification pathways
- Manage rapid prototyping with 3D printing and CNC partners
- Ensure all products meet relevant safety and regulatory standards for target markets
3. Supplier & Factory Relationships
- Lead supplier engagement and factory relationships alongside the CEO
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with Contract Manufacturers, primarily in Asia
4. Product Lifecycle & Quality
- Own product lifecycle performance – defect tracking, return analysis, and version updates
- Ensure product decisions consistently align with brand, commercial and operational goals
5. Systems & Documentation
- Build and continuously refine the Client’s Product Playbook, systems and documentation standards
- Establish scalable processes that allow the product function to grow with the business
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience taking physical products from concept through to mass production
- Strong electrical hardware knowledge
- Appreciation for premium, design-led products
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, founder-led environment with high autonomy
HIGHLY ADVANTAGEOUS:
- Experience working with Asian manufacturers
- Knowledge of CE, SANS, UL or related certifications
- Experience managing remote cross-functional teams
- Strong commercial and product awareness
