About the Role
The Safety Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the identification and management of safety risks, while supporting long-term business interests. As part of our trucking industry team, you will be responsible for implementing and managing safety, health, and environmental processes to ensure responsible business conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage 2 to 4 years of working experience including booking medicals and inductions.
- Assist management in compiling and updating Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) every 2 years or after incidents.
- Ensure compliance with various safety acts including OHSA, MHSA, and other related legislation.
- Maintain compliance with the Road Transport Management System (RTMS) and participate in audits and inspections.
- Conduct site and workplace audits to ensure compliance with the internal Safety Management System (SMS).
- Investigate incidents and compile investigation reports as per SMS reporting standards.
- Liaise with clients and service providers to book medical inductions and exit medicals.
- Perform 24/7/365 standby duties for emergency response to incidents and accidents.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- SAMTRAC or related qualification
- 2 to 4 years of working experience
- Experience booking medicals and inductions
- English and Afrikaans language proficiency
- Intermediate MS Office skills in Word and Excel
