Pongola: Diesel Technician (Commercial Truck Workshop)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to join our commercial truck workshop in Pongola, serving a range of commercial vehicle brands and supporting fleet operators, logistics companies, and owner-drivers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on heavy commercial vehicles and trucks, while maintaining high technical standards and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on commercial trucks and heavy vehicles
• Identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment
• Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on fleet vehicles
• Carry out engine, drivetrain, braking, suspension, and electrical repairs
• Attend to roadside breakdowns and field service when required
• Maintain workshop productivity and meet repair time standards
• Ensure all work is completed according to dealership and manufacturer specifications
• Maintain accurate job cards, service records, and technical reports
• Support workshop foremen and service advisors in resolving complex mechanical faults
• Maintain safe working practices and workshop housekeeping standards

Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic / Diesel Technician Certificate (essential)
• Min 5 years exp. within a commercial truck workshop or dealership environment
• Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience working on heavy commercial vehicles / trucks
• Exposure to leading truck / workshop brands (adv)

Qualifications

• Valid Code EC / Code 14 drivers licence (adv)
