About the Role
Our client, a leader in the automotive industry, is seeking a Project Accountant to join their team based in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and profitability of project accounts, as well as providing support to plants and resolving queries.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales price maintenance: Ensure pricing is always at the correct levels and adhere to increase/decrease submissions based on Forex, raw materials and economic adjustments.
- Standard cost maintenance: Ensure BOMs are accurate for newly launched products. Review costing and judgement of price levels for the various input costs.
- Compile project budgets: Understand profit and loss statements, cashflows and budgeting to ensure projects are profitable and financed correctly.
- Customer RFQ submissions: Complete internal costing for RFQs received from customers, translate into customer formats.
- Profitability studies: Ongoing studies on products to determine costing related problems and actions to rectify.
- Project accounting: Ensure the project account (Ledger) is up to date and reconciled monthly with amortization tables.
- Ensuring compliance with companies’ internal controls
- Interaction with plants to resolve queries
Requirements
- B Com degree or equivalent diploma;
- 3-5 years experience in a production accounting environment, specifically with the responsibilities mentioned above;
- Thorough understanding of profitability, costing and budgeting;
- Good Computer skills, especially with MS Office (Excel) and D365;
- Good inter-personal skills and experience in dealing with people;
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
