About the Role
The Transport & Fleet Manager is a critical role that oversees the management, planning, and coordination of transport operations, including delivery and driver management. The successful candidate will have proven experience in demand planning or forecasting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Responsibility: Ensure costs are captured in the month incurred (Labour, Vehicle R&M, Stock Losses, Fuel)
- Financial Responsibility: Ensure unprocessed costs are accrued in the month incurred
- Financial Responsibility: Ensure monthly transport department expenditure is maintained within budget
- Explain the variance of the budget versus the actual
- Ensure cost overruns are investigated and appropriate countermeasures are instituted to prevent further overruns
- Operational Delivery Schedule: Maintain the delivery schedule in Plato, including implementation of new stores
- Operational Delivery Schedule: Ensure the most effective and efficient execution of the delivery schedule, i.e., the lowest possible Cost Per Kilometer
- Operational Delivery Schedule: Execute routes in accordance with the daily delivery planning meeting
- Operational Delivery Schedule: Make changes to the delivery schedule to optimize kilometers
- Adhoc Vehicle and Driver Management: Execute NSD requests
- Adhoc Vehicle and Driver Management: Arrange for ad hoc vehicles as required to meet delivery schedule requirements
- Adhoc Vehicle and Driver Management: Ensure all ad hoc vehicles hired with a driver and manage the driver whilst on site and through delivery concerned till complete
- EPOD & Trackmatic: Execute all daily routes on Trackmatic and EPOD as per company procedures

- Proven experience in demand planning or forecasting
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Relevant Degree in Supply Chain Management
Qualifications
- Minimum Required Grade 12 with Higher Grade Math
- Tertiary Diploma / Degree / Qualification (not specified)
