About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to join our client’s team in East London. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the logistics operations, ensuring timely delivery of materials and components, and managing inventory levels. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that material and components required in manufacturing are available timeously
- Manage material and finish goods inventories in line with annual budget
- Conduct cycle counts and ensure stock adjustments are done timeously
- Submit forecasts to suppliers for timely arrival of imported and local components
- Manage and report on monthly KPIs related to the logistics department
- Compile annual financial budget for logistics department
- Communicate with OEMs regarding logistic-related issues
- Train subordinates in line with L+W management systems
- Participate in introducing new projects
- Maintain a safe and accident-free work environment
- Create an environment of effectiveness, efficiency, and optimum performance among employees by providing direction, motivation, and development in line with operational objectives
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma (preferably Logistics or Purchasing Management)
- MDP or relevant business management qualification (advantageous)
- At least 5 years Logistics Management experience in a unionised environment
- Strong business acumen with regards to cost consciousness, efficiency improvement, and production planning
- Knowledge in business intelligence portals and ability to generate own reports
- Ability to lead and motivate employees towards achieving set targets
- Working knowledge of applicable labour legislation in the South African context
- Advanced knowledge in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Baan ERP system
- Knowledge of TS 16949, ISO14001, and ISO 45001
- The ability to speak German will be advantageous
