Burgersfort: Management Accountant posted by Network Finance

Our client is a well-established and highly respected mining group with a strong operational footprint across South Africa. They are seeking a high-calibre Management Accountant to support financial and operational performance at site level, partnering closely with production, engineering, and operational teams.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in analysing operational costs, monitoring profitability, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and delivering meaningful financial insight to drive strategic decision-making. A solid understanding of mining operations, plant performance, production processes, and cost drivers is essential.
Exposure to SAP S/4HANA ERP will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with operational management to provide financial insight into mining and plant performance
• Analyse production costs, operational efficiencies, and key cost drivers across site operations
• Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
• Monitor and report on operational and financial performance against targets
• Support month-end reporting, management accounts, and financial reviews
• Drive cost optimisation initiatives and identify opportunities for operational improvement
• Provide financial support on capital expenditure, projects, and operational planning
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and reporting standards
• Deliver accurate and meaningful reporting to both finance and operational stakeholders
• Work closely with site leadership to improve commercial decision-making and operational profitability

Job Experience & Skills Required:

• BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CIMA qualification or progress toward completion advantageous
• Minimum 5 years’ experience within the mining industry is essential
• Proven experience in a Management Accounting role within a mining or heavy industrial environment
• Strong understanding of mining operations, production processes, and operational cost structures
• Experience working on-site within a mining environment
• Advanced ERP systems exposure, specifically SAP S/4HANA preferred
• Strong analytical, reporting, and business partnering skills
• Ability to engage with both finance and operational stakeholders effectively
• Highly commercial mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
