About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Manager to join our team at Groote Schuur Hospital, UCT Lung Institute (Mowbray), and associated sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing secure and accurate research databases across multiple studies, designing and developing databases and electronic case report forms, and ensuring reliable, secure, and high-quality data systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing secure and accurate research databases across multiple studies
  • Designing, developing, and validating databases and electronic case report forms
  • Monitoring data quality, integrity, and query resolution processes
  • Supervising data capturers and QC/QA teams
  • Implementing and maintaining data backup systems and access controls
  • Supporting statistical analyses and reporting requirements
  • Developing SOPs, data standards, and quality management procedures
  • Training and mentoring staff on databases and research systems
  • Collaborating with investigators, research nurses, coordinators, and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Public Health, Health Sciences, or related field
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in medical, scientific, biological, statistical, computer science or related field
  • Valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certificate
  • 57 years experience in a related field
  • Experience in data management within a research environment
  • Strong knowledge of REDCap, SQL, MS Excel, MS Access, and statistical software such as R, STATA or SPSS
